State Council suspends Mondlane's immunity

The State Council of Mozambique decided to suspend the parliamentary immunity of Albino Mondlane, opposition leader. This decision opens the way for the politician to be formally investigated and potentially tried for the crimes attributed to him.

Mondlane is accused of five crimes, including disobedience and incitement to terrorism. The accusations arise in the context of a judicial process related to the post-electoral demonstrations that occurred in the country after the last general elections.
