The National Court is investigating the strategy implemented by Plus Ultra to "cut off" the judicial investigation into the rescue of 53 million euros of public money to the airline. The Third Section of the Criminal Chamber of the National Court highlights in a court order of July 23 the relevance of the intervention of the former Secretary of Plus Ultra, Santiago Fernández Lena, "in the strategy to follow" by the airline after the beginning of the investigation in a Madrid court about the rescue of 53 million euros of public money. The judicial investigation involves the rescue of 53 million euros of public funds granted to the airline. Former government president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero is charged as a suspect in a separate piece of this case.
