President guarantees that Venezuela "maintains ownership and sovereignty" over oil

Venezuela's interim President, Delcy Rodríguez, guaranteed that the country maintains control of oil under the agreement signed with Washington. This guarantee comes despite statements to the contrary from US leader Donald Trump.

The agreement between Venezuela and the United States has been generating controversy, with divergent versions about what was actually agreed regarding ownership and sovereignty over Venezuelan oil resources.

Delcy Rodríguez reiterated Venezuela's position that the agreement preserves state ownership of oil, contradicting the narrative presented by the Trump administration.

The situation raises questions about the interpretation of the agreement and the bilateral relations between the two countries, at a time of diplomatic tension between Caracas and Washington.
