The expedition takes place in the holm oak groves surrounding the festival space.

The bees in question are wild honeybees, a species that is at risk of extinction. These colonies have never been domesticated by humans and live autonomously in nature, having chosen the Boom festival grounds as their habitat.

The Boom festival is held in Idanha-a-Nova, in the district of Castelo Branco, in an area characterized by the presence of holm oak groves. Alice Pinto's research takes place in this particular context, where the wild bees have managed to establish their colonies without human intervention.
