Rio de Janeiro's Metro Line 3, which would connect the city center to Niterói and São Gonçalo, has once again become a campaign promise. Seven of the nine candidates for governor of Rio include the expansion of the metro system to the other side of Guanabara Bay in their electoral proposals.
