Research indicates reduction of Centrão in the Senate, but with left and bolsonarism far from majority

oglobo30 August 2026 at 07:30

The first polling surveys of voting intention for the Senate at the start of this electoral campaign indicate a trend of increased polarization in the House. In total, 54 seats are up for dispute, two per state.

According to the surveys, considering the 27 lawmakers in the middle of their terms and the candidates numerically ahead, Centrão parties would lose ground in the Senate.

However, both bolsonarism and the left would still be far from forming a majority to approve projects of their interest that depend on a qualified quorum.
