Waymo puts Zeekr electric robotaxis into regular service in the US

Waymo began using its new Zeekr-developed electric robotaxis in regular service, marking the first step toward commercial use of the company's new generation of autonomous vehicles. The vehicles, known as Ojai, are initially operating in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, where passengers can book trips through the Waymo app. This expansion represents a significant milestone in the company's strategy to expand its autonomous vehicle fleet to new generations and markets. The Zeekr robotaxis join the Jaguar I-PACE vehicles that Waymo already uses in its Waymo One service, complementing the company's existing offering. The partnership with Zeekr, a brand belonging to Chinese automotive giant Geely, allows Waymo to accelerate the development and deployment of autonomous vehicles with next-generation self-driving technology.
