Apple finally managed to create a functional digital assistant with the new Siri AI, after 15 years of attempts. This is the company's third major attempt, the previous ones being in 2011 and 2024. GLOBO had access to the beta version and tested the tool for about a month.
The new Siri AI represents Apple's entry into the era of artificial intelligence. The tool is expected to be available to users from September, alongside the launch of iOS 27.
For more than a decade, Siri was only capable of performing extremely simple tasks, such as setting alarms and playing music. This problem was not exclusive to Apple, also affecting other first-generation assistants, like Alexa and Google Assistant.
All these assistants fell far short of the promises made in the science fiction film "Her" (2013), which depicted a much more advanced and conversational virtual assistant than any technology available at the time.
