In the days prior to the migratory avalanche on Ceuta of July 30, the Spanish authorities had official knowledge of a growing movement on social media inviting Moroccans to enter Spanish territory. This movement was based on disinformation and distortions about a Supreme Court ruling.
The Spanish CNI (National Intelligence Center) even warned about a sudden growth of followers in WhatsApp groups, with tens of thousands of new members in just 24 hours. This information indicated a coordinated mobilization operation.
However, it was not revealed that any security agency of the State implemented an infiltration and neutralization campaign that would have included denials, warnings or deterrent messages directed at migrants.
The issue raises questions about the digital response of the Spanish State in the face of European and National Security warnings, which were apparently ignored before the migratory incident.
