Braga City Council announced the creation of a new riverside beach in the municipality, designated Praia Fluvial de Navarra, which should open to the public in 2027. The information was revealed during the opening ceremony of this year's bathing season at the municipality's riverside beaches, by the mayor, João Rodrigues.
The planned investment for this new bathing area is 1 million euros. The Navarra riverside beach will be located next to the Cávado river and will be the municipality's fifth recognized bathing area, thus increasing the existing offer.
With the inclusion of Navarra, Braga will have five riverside beaches, joining the existing ones of Adaúfe, Cavadinho, Merelim São Paio and Ponte do Bico. The mayor highlighted that this development is part of a continuous program by the City Council aimed at improving the municipality's riverfront areas, while simultaneously increasing the locations designated for swimming.
