Europa: which cities are most expensive to buy an apartment?

Euronews Portugal30 August 2026 at 06:00

The price per square meter of apartments in the center varies significantly among European cities, according to comparative data. The analysis focuses on the five largest economies in Europe and reveals that only two capitals appear among the ten most expensive cities to buy an apartment in the center.

Among the analyzed capitals, Lisbon is not among the ten most expensive destinations on the European continent. The Portuguese city, despite the significant increase in real estate prices in recent years, ranks below other European metropolises in terms of cost per square meter.

The price variation among the main European cities demonstrates the economic and real estate differences between the countries of the continent. While some capitals rank among the most expensive, other capitals of large economies have more affordable values for property buyers.
