Vila-real's paellas change day: this is how the big peñas day will be

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General30 August 2026 at 05:06

The peñas of Vila-real return to be one of the main engines of the Mare de Déu de Gràcia festivities, which will take place from September 4 to 13. The Comissió de Penyes arrives at these festivals with 101 associated collectives and four major events under their responsibility, which together will mobilize around 6,000 people connected to this group.

Among the novelties, a calendar change for one of the events with the greatest mobilizing power stands out, related to the city's paellas. In addition to this date change, other format modifications will be implemented in other scheduled events.

This organizational format demonstrates the importance of the peñas in the festive structure of Vila-real, functioning as a massive collective that moves thousands of participants during the celebration days.

Was it really a Lauryn Hill concert? At Meo Kalorama, there were Fugees, two 'nepo babies' and even a 'Hips Don't Lie' without Shakira

Lauryn Hill's concert at the Meo Kalorama festival ended up being a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Fugees, with the artist being less late than expected, but the promise of a concert dedicated to the songs that made her iconic did not materialize. The show included performances by her children, at a time when the "nepo babies" concept is trending, and by Wyclef Jean, her former Fugees colleague, and she also performed "Hips Don't Lie," a song originally recorded with Shakira, but without the Colombian's presence.
