Estarreja: PS calls for reinforcement of Antuã river banks to prevent new floods

The Socialist Party (PS) councilors in Estarreja City Council warned of the need to reinforce the banks of the Antuã River, particularly at the points most worn by the last winter. The socialist elected officials recalled that the collapse of the right bank, caused by the floods at the end of 2025 and beginning of 2026, generated high expenses for the residents. They also warned about the strong silting of the river between the Porto de Vacas bridge and the Quimigal sluice gates, a historically problematic area, advocating for the removal of sand and vegetation to increase water retention capacity. The Mayor, Isabel Simões Pinto, responded that studies and projects are underway for a technical intervention coordinated with the region's water management entities.
