The tradition of the Fachos was fulfilled once again in Machico, Madeira. The slopes of the city's valley came back to life, color and fire in a new edition of this age-old celebration that, year after year, replicates the same spectacle.
The event started at 9:30 PM, when the slopes around the city were illuminated with the characteristic flames of this centuries-old tradition.
The celebration attracted both local residents and visitors, who gathered in the streets and viewpoints of Machico to watch the spectacle that repeats itself generation after generation.
