Agricultural Cooperative of Penafiel celebrates 50 years looking to the future of agriculture

The Agricultural Cooperative of Penafiel commemorated its 50 years with a colloquium promoted by CONFAGRI at Agrival, held on Thursday, August 27. The initiative brought together different perspectives linked to agriculture and livestock farming, seeking to reflect on the main challenges the sector faces and on the opportunities for future generations in the Northern region.
CONFAGRI presented the encounter as a space for reflection on the necessary paths to make agriculture more sustainable, competitive and attractive. The cooperative model was also under analysis, namely for the role it can play in creating greater income, stability and opportunities for associated farmers.
The debate raised the importance that agriculture and livestock farming continue to represent for the economic and social development of the Northern region. In a sector marked by profound changes, from technological evolution to sustainability and competitiveness requirements, the capacity for adaptation of farmers and the structures that support them is particularly important.
For the Agricultural Cooperative of Penafiel, the initiative had special significance as it coincided with the celebration of its 50 years, during which it accompanied different generations of farmers in the region. O futuro da agricultura na região esteve em debate na Agrival, num colóquio promovido pela CONFAGRI que assinalou também os 50 anos da Cooperativa Agrícola de Penafiel.
Realizada na quinta-feira, 27 de agosto, a iniciativa juntou diferentes perspetivas ligadas à agricultura e à agropecuária, procurando refletir sobre os principais desafios que o setor enfrenta e sobre as oportunidades para as próximas gerações. A CONFAGRI apresentou o encontro como um espaço de reflexão sobre os caminhos necessários para tornar a agricultura mais sustentável, competitiva e atrativa.
A sessão integrou a programação da Agrival e teve como um dos principais pontos de destaque os 50 anos da Cooperativa Agrícola de Penafiel, entidade que tem acompanhado a evolução da atividade agrícola na região ao longo de cinco décadas.
O modelo cooperativo esteve também em análise, nomeadamente pelo papel que pode desempenhar na criação de maior rendimento, estabilidade e oportunidades para os agricultores associados. A CONFAGRI destacou precisamente a importância das cooperativas no desenvolvimento da atividade agrícola e na capacidade de resposta aos desafios que o setor enfrenta.

O debate colocou em cima da mesa a importância que a agricultura e a agropecuária continuam a representar para o desenvolvimento económico e social da região Norte.

Para a Cooperativa Agrícola de Penafiel, a iniciativa teve ainda um significado especial por coincidir com a celebração dos seus 50 anos. A cooperativa tem acompanhado diferentes gerações de agricultores da região e apresentou o percurso do modelo cooperativo como parte da reflexão sobre o futuro do setor.
