Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogacar suffered fractures in his left collarbone and a cervical vertebra on Saturday after a fall during the eighth stage of the 81st Vuelta a España. The fall caused the withdrawal of the UAE Emirates team rider from the competition.
The injuries were confirmed by UAE Emirates, the Slovenian rider's team. The accident occurred during the disputed stage, leading to Pogacar's withdrawal from the race.
This injury represents a significant setback for the young cyclist, who intended to fight for the top positions in the general classification at the Vuelta a España. The withdrawal occurred at an early stage of the race, preventing Pogacar from continuing his participation in the event.
