The Inspectorate-General for Education and Science confirmed that there were delays in the delivery of national exams in 29 schools across the country. The problems were mainly found in the tests carried out on June 16 and 23, affecting the subjects of Portuguese, Economics, and Mathematics.
The principals of the schools involved defend that they should not be held responsible for the delays, rejecting the idea that they should be used as scapegoats. Their position comes in a context where there has been discussion about who should take responsibility for the logistical problems in the administration of the exams.
The situation has raised questions about the organization and functioning of the delivery and administration services for national exams, with educational authorities trying to determine the causes of the delays that affected dozens of educational establishments in Portugal.
