Enric Más, rider from the Movistar team, became the new leader of the Vuelta 2026 after receiving the red leader's jersey of the race. The Spanish cyclist achieved this prominent position in the general classification of the Vuelta.
However, Enric Más chose not to wear the red jersey out of respect for Tadej Pogacar, who was apparently the previous leader or was in a position to deserve wearing the red jersey. This decision by Más demonstrates consideration for the Slovenian opponent.
The situation drew attention in sports media, as it is unusual for a leader to refuse to wear the ultimate symbol of leadership in a Grand Slam event. The respect between the two cyclists was thus evidenced through this gesture.
The Vuelta 2026 continues with Enric Más in the lead of the general classification, even without visibly wearing the red jersey, maintaining the dispute for the title among the main favorites of the race.
