The City Hall of Teresina extended the due dates of IPTU (Urban Property and Land Tax) and public lighting fee installments for taxpayers who chose installment payment in 2026. The decision was made by the Municipal Finance Secretariat after a court order.
The municipal administration is also recalculating the waste fee as part of the measures adopted after the court decision. The objective is to adjust the amounts charged to taxpayers, ensuring greater fairness in the billing of services.
The extension of installments benefits taxpayers who had chosen to split the payment of IPTU and public lighting contribution throughout the year 2026. With the measure, the due dates have been postponed to new dates yet to be announced by the city hall.
