Iran accuses US of manipulating energy markets

The Iranian government accused on Saturday elements of the United States government of being responsible for a "major operation" to manipulate energy markets. According to Iran, these elements use President Donald Trump as a cover, relying on the help of media outlets and "actors aligned with Israel."

The Iranian accusation maintains that the goal of this supposed operation is the enrichment of these groups at the expense of American consumers. Iran did not specify which elements of the US government would be involved in the alleged manipulation.

This is not the first time Iran has expressed criticism of the Trump government regarding energy policy. Tensions between the two countries have manifested on several occasions, especially after the United States' withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear agreement.
