Moroccan left-back Souffian El Karouani will reinforce Benfica on a season-long loan from Al Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia. The agreement between the clubs is practically closed, according to the Saudi portal Asharq Al-Awsat, which reported it first.
According to the same source, the defender will officially sign the loan contract on Saturday, August 29, the expected date for the transfer to be formalized. This way, El Karouani is preparing to start a new chapter in his career at the Luz club.
The arrival of the Moroccan international represents a solution for Benfica's left-back position, a role that the red side's structure had been closely monitoring. The player arrives to increase competition for José Neto and Samuel Dahl, on a one-season loan that will allow Marco Silva to count on another option for the defensive sector.
