A JPP delegation is on an institutional visit to the island of Jersey, at the invitation of the local Madeiran community. The trip aims to strengthen ties between the party and the Madeiran diaspora on that Channel Island.
During the visit, the party delegation was received by Jersey's Bailiff, Sir Robert MacRae, and by the Minister of External Relations, Senator Ian Gorst. The meeting represents institutional recognition of the importance of the Portuguese community on the island.
The JPP delegation is composed of Élvio Sousa, deputy to the Legislative Assembly of Madeira and party secretary-general, and Mariusky Spínola, deputy and president of the JPP Madeiran Communities Nucleus. The composition of the delegation suggests a particular focus on issues related to Madeiran communities abroad.
