The President of the United States, Donald Trump, confirmed this Friday that he will be present at the Pentagon, in the state of Virginia, to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
The September 11, 2001 attacks were carried out by the extremist organization Al-Qaeda and resulted in the death of nearly three thousand people. The Pentagon was one of the targets of those attacks, having been hit by one of the hijacked planes.
The commemoration ceremony will mark a quarter century since the attacks that profoundly altered the United States' security policy and led to the invasion of Afghanistan.
Trump's confirmation of presence at the Pentagon comes in a context of preparations for the official commemorations of the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
