Benfica working to present renewal offer to Marco Silva's spark plug
Gianluca Prestianni was the great highlight of Benfica in the victory over Aarhus (3-1) in the second leg of the Europa League play-off. The Argentine winger scored a brace in the match played in Denmark and maintained the consistency shown at the start of the season. This victory guaranteed Benfica qualification for the league phase of the European competition.
The club from Luz wants to reward the player for his exceptional performance. According to newspaper A BOLA, the board led by Rui Costa is preparing to work on a contract renewal proposal for the winger, although the player already has a contract until 2029 and is protected by a 100 million euro release clause.
After the match, Rui Costa spoke in the mixed zone and was categorical about the club's intention. The president stated that it is evident that Benfica wants to keep Prestianni and that there is no doubt about it. The Argentine thus consolidated his position as an important piece in Marco Silva's tactical scheme.
Regarding the statistics, Prestianni has five goals in six games this season, five of which as a starter, resulting in an average of 0.83 goals per game. This exceptional start to the season places the young winger in a prominent position in the sporting landscape of the Lisbon club.
