Luís Filipe Santos, independent councilor at the Funchal City Council, submitted a request for clarification to the Regional Government of Madeira about the housing project planned for the Amparo area, in São Martinho. The mayor wants to know how many dwellings will be built in that area, what the planned investment is, and when the works are expected to begin.
The issue arises following the publication of Regional Regulatory Decree No. 16/2026/M, which establishes preventive measures on an area of approximately 29 thousand square meters. This decree aims to prepare the land for the future construction of public and affordable housing in that area of Funchal.
Luís Filipe Santos expressed the need to obtain concrete information about the timeline and details of the project, considering it important that citizens are aware of the plans of the regional executive for that area of the city. The request for clarification comes within the scope of his role as an independent councilor in the municipality of Funchal.
