Government puts national strategy for energy storage out for public consultation

The Portuguese Government put the national strategy for energy storage out for public consultation, with the deadline for contributions ending on September 16. This initiative aims to boost investment in energy storage technologies in the country.

The strategy covers mainly two technologies: batteries and hydroelectric pumping. The action plan intends to create conditions to increase energy storage capacity in Portugal, contributing to the energy transition and to the integration of renewable sources into the electricity grid.

The public consultation allows companies, energy sector entities and citizens to submit their contributions and opinions on the document proposed by the Executive. This public participation process is usual in the definition of strategic energy policies.
