An accident involving a minibus and a truck killed 27 people in Zimbabwe, local police said on Saturday (29), being considered the country's worst road accident. The victims were church members, who were traveling to a religious conference.

The crash happened on Friday night, around 3:30 PM (Brasília time), near the Chivu region, 140 kilometers south of the capital Harare. There is still no information about how many people were on the bus.

Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi, cited by the Associated Press, said the faithful were from a popular indigenous African Christian denomination, known for wearing white robes. They were on their way to a religious event when the van collided head-on with the truck.
