The parish of Maia, belonging to the municipality of Ribeira Grande, in the Azores, is developing a traditional tourist route with the aim of attracting visitors to the region. The project emerges as a strategy to boost local tourism.

The region has within its area the oldest tea plantation in Europe, which constitutes one of the main attractions for visitors. This historical heritage is one of the central elements of the route being developed.

The project is being developed in partnership with the Regional Cooperative of Solidarity Economy, known as Cresaçor. This collaboration aims to strengthen the structure and resources available for the implementation of the tourist route.

The route will also include private homes as part of the experience proposed to tourists, allowing for a closer approach to local life and culture. This approach aims to provide visitors with an authentic and immersive experience in the community of Maia.
