Liberty Media, the owner of Formula 1, confirmed the promotion of Carlos Ezpeleta as his father Carmelo Ezpeleta's right-hand man in the leadership of MotoGP. The American company, which acquired the former Dorna Sports for over 4,000 million dollars, formalized the continuity of the World Motorcycle Championship's command structure.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, who boosted the two-wheeled spectacle since 1992, remains as CEO and maximum responsible for the championship. His experience of more than three decades in the organization of MotoGP was recognized by the new ownership.
Derek Chang, president and CEO of Liberty Media, was the one who publicly announced the promotion of Carlos Ezpeleta, thus consolidating the presence of the Ezpeleta family in the direction of the championship after the change of ownership.
The news headline refers to the need to protect the riders, making their lives easier, a principle that the new leadership intends to maintain as a priority in the management of the world championship.
