São Paulo-based stylist Tom Martins, the name behind the brand Martins, is preparing a special collection to present in October at São Paulo Fashion Week. This will be his tenth participation in the event, also marking the 10 years of trajectory of his brand. The 31-year-old designer revealed that he was inspired by works of great fashion names, such as John Galliano during his time at Dior, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, and Marc Jacobs in his Perry Ellis version, identifying in them a rebellious spirit in common.
Born in Vila Perus, in the Northwest Zone of São Paulo, Martins had a simple childhood and says he never worried about fashion during his childhood. His discovery of the fashion world happened late, through the TV show "Fashion Squadron." Curiously, Arlindo Grund, one of the presenters of that show, became one of the stylist's best clients.
The collection to be presented in October will feature pieces with genderless creations and oversized fits, characteristics that have defined the designer's work throughout his career. The event at São Paulo Fashion Week is considered one of the most anticipated of the season, and the celebration of the brand's 10 years should attract great attention from the public and the specialized press.
