MONTESINHO NATURAL PARK CELEBRATES 47 YEARS WITH A DAY DEDICATED TO NATURE AND TRADITION

The Montesinho Natural Park celebrated its 47th anniversary on Sunday, August 30, with a program dedicated to nature, heritage, and local communities. The celebrations took place in various localities of the park, which covers the municipalities of Bragança and Vinhais, in the district of Bragança.

The activities began in Carragosa, with a session dedicated to the natural and cultural values of the park. Throughout the morning, topics such as biodiversity, chestnut groves, Pyrenean oak, shepherding, agriculture, and beekeeping were discussed.

During the afternoon, participants made a journey through different localities of the park, with a stop at the viewpoint of Travanca and a centenary chestnut grove in Zido. The program ended with the release of a bird of prey by ICNF and a countryside picnic to the sound of the bagpipe players of Zido.

O Parque Natural de Montesinho comemora este domingo, 30 de agosto, 47 anos com um programa que junta natureza, património e as comunidades locais.

As celebrações começam em Carragosa, Bragança, com uma sessão dedicada aos valores naturais e culturais do parque. Ao longo da manhã, estarão em destaque temas como a biodiversidade, os soutos, o carvalho-negral, o pastoreio, a agricultura e a apicultura.

Durante a tarde, uma viagem por diferentes localidades do Parque leva os participantes até aos concelhos de Bragança e Vinhais, com passagem pelo miradouro de Travanca e por um souto centenário em Zido.

O programa termina com a libertação de uma ave de rapina pelo ICNF e um lanche campestre ao som dos gaiteiros de Zido.
