The Montesinho Natural Park celebrated its 47th anniversary on Sunday, August 30, with a program dedicated to nature, heritage, and local communities. The celebrations took place in various localities of the park, which covers the municipalities of Bragança and Vinhais, in the district of Bragança.
The activities began in Carragosa, with a session dedicated to the natural and cultural values of the park. Throughout the morning, topics such as biodiversity, chestnut groves, Pyrenean oak, shepherding, agriculture, and beekeeping were discussed.
During the afternoon, participants made a journey through different localities of the park, with a stop at the viewpoint of Travanca and a centenary chestnut grove in Zido. The program ended with the release of a bird of prey by ICNF and a countryside picnic to the sound of the bagpipe players of Zido.
