Beach volleyball gains more space in the 44th edition of Intercolegial O GLOBO/Sesc. The sport begins being played today at Sesc Nova Iguaçu, with ten matches in the under-18 girls' category. Tomorrow will be the boys' turn, also with ten games. Restricted to the under-18 category, the competition will have five more matches than in the previous edition, when 16 confrontations were held, eight in each gender.
The competition is organized by GLOBO, with sponsorship from Sesc-RJ and support from Afya. Traditionally held in November, beach volleyball was moved up to August at the request of the teachers from participating schools. The intention is to take advantage of milder temperatures and provide better conditions for athletes, coaching staff, and spectators.
