Engineers, scientists and farmers are developing personalized technologies to mitigate the impact of invasive species on Spanish agriculture. The arrival of these species in the countryside and the problems they caused to agricultural producers strengthened the alliances between those affected and the institutions and private companies that develop technology.
Paco Sánchez, president of the irrigation communities of Badajoz in Lobón and Montijo, in the Guadiana river basin, severely affected by the invasion of the Asian clam, reports that initially everything was done by trial and error, testing methods and solutions that ended up being implemented if they were successful.
In this case, those affected collaborated closely with companies such as STF, a company that belongs to the Waters division of the MatHolding group. With the technicians of this company, a filter system was developed that allowed controlling the entry of this micro-animal into the pipeline network.
