Almost a thousand candidates with impeachment actions continue campaigning normally in Brazil. As of last Wednesday, the Electoral Public Ministry had contested 974 candidacy registrations across the country, and this number is still expected to grow. Even those convicted of ineligibility or with impeachment requests under the Clean Record Law continue to appear on radio, TV, and campaign in the streets.

The intriguing situation is backed by Brazilian legislation. Lawyer and electoral law specialist Fernando Neisser explains that this permission seeks to balance the right to full defense and the protection of the voters' choice. The law allows candidacies that have received impeachment requests from opponents or the Electoral Public Ministry, pointing out some ineligibility, to continue campaigning until the Electoral Court evaluates the actions.
