Government must forecast 'effective' surplus between R$ 18 billion and R$ 20 billion in 2027

The government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva must forecast a "real" surplus of R$ 18 billion to R$ 20 billion in the 2027 Budget, according to Planning Minister Bruno Moretti. This result will consider all expenses, including those that are deducted for the calculation of the fiscal target, but that impact the final result.

In the same metric, the current expectation for 2026 is to close the year with a deficit of 0.4% of GDP, which corresponds to approximately R$ 52 billion.

In an interview with GloboNews, Minister Bruno Moretti stated that the 2027 annual budget bill (Ploa) will establish a 0.5% of GDP adjustment in the first year of the next government, indicating a fiscal austerity target for the following administration.
