SIC Notícias28 August 2026 at 22:47

The Constitutional Court considered constitutional eleven provisions of the return law, approved by Parliament. The judges at the Ratton Palace based their decision highlighting that the legislation contains relevant guarantees that protect the best interests of children.

This decision was made last Friday, when the court analyzed the constitutional questions raised about the legislative act in question.

The return law, which establishes rules on the return of children to their country of origin in cases of international parental abduction, was thus validated by the Constitutional Court, with none of the eleven provisions analyzed being considered unconstitutional.

The judges of the court based at the Ratton Palace, in Lisbon, justified their position highlighting that the legislation ensures the necessary guarantees to protect the interests of children involved in these processes.
