Banking union takes pensions to parliament

Observador28 August 2026 at 23:34

The National Union of Banking Executives and Technicians (SNQTB) announced this Friday that it will submit a legislative proposal in the Assembly of the Republic to correct five injustices in the calculation of retired bankers' pensions. The union revealed that the proposal will be presented "very soon" to the Portuguese parliament. The goal is to change how the pensions of bankers who are already retired are calculated, correcting what SNQTB considers to be injustices in the current calculation system. This initiative comes as a result of concerns raised by the union regarding the conditions of pensioners in the banking sector.
