How will the electricity bill look? Aneel announces that tariff flag will remain yellow in September

The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) announced that the tariff flag for September will remain yellow, maintaining an additional cost of R$ 1.885 per 100 kWh consumed for electricity users. The yellow flag has been in effect since May and continues to reflect less favorable conditions for energy generation in the country.

From January to April of this year, the tariff flag remained green, indicating favorable generation conditions. The change to the yellow flag occurred in May and has been maintained in the following months due to the dry season.

According to Aneel, the maintenance of the additional cost on tariffs is related to the reduction in hydroelectric reservoir levels during the dry period, which requires the activation of thermoelectric plants, which have higher generation costs.

The tariff flag system was adopted by Aneel in 2015 as a transparency tool, allowing consumers to monthly follow the country's energy generation conditions.
