As the crisis between Justice André Mendonça of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and the Federal Police (PF) deepens, a faction of the Court has started defending a shift in the corporation's operational approach. This group supports the rapporteur of significant cases currently before the STF, such as Master, INSS, and Lulinha.
The strain has also concerned the court's president, Edson Fachin, who has become one of the key intermediaries among the actors involved in efforts to reduce tension. The assessment from this group of justices is that the PF needs to address problems in its operations without weakening the corporation or questioning the importance of investigations conducted by the institution.
The concern takes into account the interruption of information leaks, with the need for additional protection measures by the PF, as well as a new posture for institutional dialogue. Since the Master case expanded into the political sphere, Mendonça has sought to maintain the investigation team, according to sources close to the case.
