After more than 10 thousand applications, Municipality of Leiria closes analysis for house reconstruction

Diário de Coimbra28 August 2026 at 22:16

The Municipality of Leiria closed the application period for CCDR do Centro support for the reconstruction of homes affected by a natural disaster. The closure occurred seven months after storm Kristin passed through the region.

More than 10 thousand applications were received during the support program opening period. This high number of requests reflects the extent of the damage caused by the storm in the Leiria region.

The applications will now be analyzed by CCDR do Centro, the entity responsible for managing and distributing the reconstruction funds. The evaluation process will determine which homes meet the conditions to receive the funding.

Storm Kristin caused significant damage in the municipality of Leiria, leaving many families with destroyed or severely affected homes that needed support for reconstruction.
