The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) authorized, by unanimous decision, the deployment of federal forces to 143 municipalities in Piauí during the October 4 elections. The measure aims to guarantee security and order during the electoral process in these cities.
The decision covers 44 of the 74 electoral zones in the state of Piauí, representing more than half of the state's zones. This comprehensive coverage demonstrates the court's concern with the integrity of the electoral process in the region.
The authorization of federal forces for voting and vote-counting guarantee missions is a common practice in Brazilian elections, especially in regions with a history of electoral conflicts or concerns about the safety of poll workers and voters.
