Classes are about to start and (still) there are students without spots or answers in Seixal

SIC Notícias28 August 2026 at 21:09

With the start of classes imminent, dozens of students in the municipality of Seixal continue without an assigned spot and without any response to their school applications. The situation leaves families in uncertainty about the academic future of their children.

The Seixal City Hall states it cannot directly respond to the questions raised by SIC on the matter. The council assures, however, that it is attentive to the situation and is monitoring the problem.

The municipality emphasizes that it has been systematically alerting the Ministry of Education about the urgent need for investment in Seixal's school network, highlighting a structural problem of lack of capacity in the territory's schools.

SIC tried to obtain clarification from the Ministry of Education, but received no response by the time of publication of the news.
