Search for missing 26-year-old at Ursa Beach

A 26-year-old man of Ukrainian nationality has been missing since this Friday at Ursa Beach, in the parish of Colares, in the municipality of Sintra, after getting into difficulty in the surf zone while swimming with friends. The alert was given by nearby tourists at 11:50.

The National Maritime Authority confirmed that searches are underway for the young man, who allegedly disappeared in the surf zone. The operations were coordinated by the harbor master and local commander of the Maritime Police of Cascais.

Sea searches were immediately initiated by crew members of the Cascais and Ericeira Lifeboat Stations. On land, elements from the Maritime Police of Cascais, the "SeaWatch" project, the "Praia Segura" project, and the Voluntary Firefighters of Almoçageme are involved. A Portuguese Air Force aircraft was also activated to support the operations.

According to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection, 19 operatives are participating in the search, supported by four land vehicles and a helicopter.

Um jovem de 26 anos, de nacionalidade ucraniana, está desaparecido desde esta sexta-feira de manhã na Praia da Ursa, na freguesia de Colares, no concelho de Sintra, depois de ter entrado em dificuldades na zona de rebentação.

Alerta foi dado por turistas nas proximidades às 11h50. Segundo testemunhos, o jovem, estava a banhos com amigos quando entrou em dificuldades na zona de rebentação.

A Autoridade Marítima Nacional (AMN) refere que estão a decorrer buscas por um jovem, “de nacionalidade ucraniana, após alegadamente ter desaparecido na zona de rebentação, enquanto estava a banhos com amigos, na Praia da Ursa”.

Foram de imediato iniciadas buscas, por mar, por tripulantes da Estação Salva-vidas de Cascais e da Ericeira.

Nas operações de busca, coordenadas pelo capitão do porto e comandante local da Polícia Marítima de Cascais, estão ainda empenhados, por terra, elementos da Polícia Marítima de Cascais, do projeto “SeaWatch”, bem como do projeto “Praia Segura” e dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Almoçageme.

De acordo com a AMN, foi ainda ativada uma aeronave da Força Aérea Portuguesa.

De acordo com a Autoridade Nacional de Emergência e Proteção Civil (ANEPC), nas buscas estão envolvidos 19 operacionais, apoiados por quatro meios terrestres e um helicóptero.
