The Constitutional Court decided, unanimously, that the Return Law is not unconstitutional. The court evaluated the decree-law and concluded that there are no grounds to consider that the law violates the Constitution.
The President of the Republic, António José Seguro, had requested this evaluation in July, raising doubts about the law's compatibility with the Constitution. The request was made to clarify any constitutional issues before the legislation came into force or was applied.
With the court's unanimous decision, any constitutional controversy regarding the Return Law is removed, allowing the legislation to continue to be applied normally.
