Sintra | 26-year-old man missing at sea from Ursa beach

Authorities are conducting searches for a 26-year-old Ukrainian young man who went missing this morning at Ursa beach, in the parish of Colares, in the municipality of Sintra. The alert was given at 11:50 by tourists who were in the vicinity, after the young man got into difficulty in the surf zone while swimming with friends.

The search operations are being coordinated by the Harbour Master and Local Commander of the Maritime Police of Cascais, with land, sea and air resources. On the ground, 19 operatives are deployed, supported by 4 vehicles and 1 aircraft.

By sea, crew members from the Lifeboat Stations of Cascais and Ericeira are participating. On land, elements from the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Cascais, the SeaWatch Project, the Safe Beach Project and the Voluntary Firefighters of Almoçageme are committed. The Portuguese Air Force has activated an aircraft to reinforce the search operations.

As autoridades continuam a realizar buscas por um jovem ucraniano de 26 anos que desapareceu esta manhã na praia da Ursa, freguesia de Colares, concelho de Sintra, enquanto se encontrava a banhos com amigos.

O alerta foi dado às 11h50 por turistas que se encontravam nas proximidades, levando à ativação imediata de meios por mar, terra e ar. As operações são coordenadas pelo Capitão do Porto e Comandante Local da Polícia Marítima de Cascais.

No terreno estão mobilizados 19 operacionais, apoiados por 4 veículos e 1 meio aéreo. Por mar, participam tripulantes das Estações Salva‑vidas de Cascais e da Ericeira. Por terra, estão empenhados elementos do Comando Local da Polícia Marítima de Cascais, do Projeto SeaWatch, do Projeto Praia Segura e dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Almoçageme. A Força Aérea Portuguesa ativou uma aeronave para reforço das operações.

Segundo o que foi possível apurar, o jovem entrou em dificuldades na zona de rebentação e acabou por desaparecer, não voltando a ser visto.
