Open, rise, fire: Russia shows missile launch that can reach anywhere

Russia's Ministry of Defence released images on Friday of a training launch of a solid-fuel, portable intercontinental ballistic missile. The images show the various phases of the launch, from opening to the missile firing.

The missile's training warheads hit the designated area at the Kura test range, located on the Kamchatka peninsula in Russia's Far East. The test was carried out successfully according to Russian authorities.

The missile in question is part of Russia's strategic arsenal. Given the country's vast territorial expanse and the long range of the available missiles, an intercontinental ballistic missile fired from Russian soil is capable of reaching practically any destination in the world.
