22nd Siege of Almeida begins this Friday

The 22nd edition of the Siege of Almeida begins this Friday in the town of Almeida, running until next Sunday. It is the largest historical reenactment of the Napoleonic period in Portugal.

The event includes the opening and official inauguration of the Nineteenth-Century Market, scheduled for 6 PM, followed by the Lowering of the Flags of the Participating Countries and other activities starting at 7 PM.

The historical reenactment refers to the period of the Napoleonic invasions of Portugal, recreating memorable moments from that conflict. The Siege of Almeida is an event that attracts participants and visitors interested in Portuguese history from the early 19th century.
