95.8% of fixed telephone accesses in Portugal already use next-generation networks

Next-generation networks already represent 95.8% of fixed telephone accesses in Portugal, according to ANACOM's most recent data. This means that the vast majority of fixed telephone connections in the country has stopped using traditional technologies and started operating through more modern infrastructure.

Analog accesses and traditional voice traffic continue to decline in the country. This decreasing trend has been observed consistently over the past years, as more users migrate to next-generation networks.

Traditional fixed-line telephones have been losing ground significantly. The progressive replacement of old infrastructure by newer networks reflects the technological transformation that Portugal's telecommunications sector has undergone.

Do you have a driver's license? You can now check this data and see if you have fines to pay (without leaving home)

The Driver's Portal, available on the gov.pt portal, allows Portuguese drivers to consult online information about their driver's license, including the number of available points, history of violations, and fines to pay. Access is done through the Digital Mobile Key or Citizen Card and is free. The Portuguese system assigns 12 initial points, with losses of 2 to 6 points depending on the severity of the offense. When 4 or 5 points remain, road safety training is mandatory; with 1 to 3 points, the theoretical test must be repeated; and with zero points, the driver loses their license for two years. Minor parking violations must be checked with the respective municipality.
