Jornal O Almeirinense28 August 2026 at 16:19

The Public Security Police arrested a 78-year-old man in Cartaxo on August 26, as part of a domestic violence investigation. The arrest came after a call to the 112 emergency number reporting family disputes at a residence.

Upon arriving at the location, PSP officers identified clear signs of conflict between family members, although no serious injuries were recorded. The domestic violence case had been initiated on August 20, when suspicions arose that the man might be in possession of a firearm.

Following the inquiries carried out, officers located and seized a 9-millimeter pistol as well as 23 rounds of ammunition of the same caliber. The suspect admitted ownership of the weapon and ammunition but held no valid license for their possession.

The operation was carried out by the PSP District Command of Santarém, which issued a statement about the case.
