The Portuguese government expressed its sorrow at the death of Norway's King Harald V. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed to its Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide, "the most heartfelt condolences on the passing of His Majesty". In the message sent, the Portuguese Executive remembered Harald V as a "moral reference". The Norwegian king, who was 87 years old, was deeply respected internationally for his long life dedicated to public service and diplomacy.
